I am interested in maps. They are born from data collected while travelling around the city of Detroit. This data speaks of social and economic forces at work in communities. Signals of what’s going on and, what’s not going on. These informational maps are put together in a very clinical and scientific way yet, with a tongue in cheek style of occasionally dark humor as a means of making the information engaging and accessible to the user. Using standard devices such as keys, color systems, symbol signs and pathways as building blocks of visual hierarchy.
