Ali Woerner
Ali Woerner is a professional dance performer, choreographer, and professor based in Detroit, Michigan. Ali received her Masters of Fine Arts from the University of Michigan and her Bachelor of Performing Arts from Oklahoma City University’s School of Dance and Arts Management.

Throughout her diverse career within both commercial (performing as a Radio City Rockette for six years) and contemporary mediums, Ali has performed and taught all over the world; including Colombia, Costa Rica and Japan.  Ali has set choreography for various companies  including; Gallaudet University Dance Company, Inaside Jazz Dance Chicago, MoreDances Contemporary Dance Company, Patterson Rhythm Pace Dance Company, Umbigada Dance Company, Wayne State University, and recently worked with Danza Universitaria in Costa Rica.  Ali will serve as Guest Artist in Residence this January at Albion College.

Ali has taught as Adjunct Professor for Wayne State University and is a guest lecturer for the University of Michigan.  Ali’s picture can be found on the cover of the newly released CD, Music for Modern Dance composed by Christian Matjias and Glenn Berring for the Behind Barres collection.  Ali is part of the American Ballet Theatre Detroit Summer Intensive Faculty, guest lecturer for the Paul Taylor Summer Intensive in Ann Arbor, MI., and writes the Private Sector Column for the Journal of Dance Education.

Ali’s newest project is the creation of Happenings; a unique event for Detroit artists to display work, connect and collaborate with fellow creators, and build a thriving united community.  Happenings debuted this past June, and is set to happen again this September 26th at the Andrea Springer Studio in the Russell Bazaar Industrial Center, Detroit.
