"The Bon Mots“

The Bon Mots' new record, "le Main Drag"reflects an admittedly quixotic desire to hear the kind of music they wish was still being made by someone, or for that matter, anyone; but since it wasn't, or in any event, they couldn't find it - as they say in other regions: "Voila." "Le Main Drag" was recorded and mixed, with considerable skill, by Neal Ostrovsky at his B-Side Audio sound complex in Chicago. (Neal has recorded a number of excellent records by bands such as the Hushdrops, Webb Brothers (Warner UK), Electric Airlines (King Roesser of Urge Overkill) and Ness, to name but a few).

The basic tracks for "le Main Drag" were recorded in two days, and overdubs were laid down in similarly swift fashion. Neal mixed the record with the band's input. The record was mastered at Diamond City, Chicago, by Brett Barton. Design and artwork were performed with aplomb by Beth Roman (blackout design) and the band; indeed, Mike took several of the photos for the record sleeve with a pin-hole camera he made himself. The band would like to add that le Main Drag represents a major achievement—in that there are no bar codes sullying the artwork. Le Main Drag was released to an unsuspecting and generally impenetrable world in September of 2003. The Bon Mots would also like to point out—and here is as good a spot as any—that this website was designed by Gentleman Eric Smith.
